A Guide to Creating a Learning Event
As I began leading large-scale instructional design projects, I developed a customized framework to serve as both a planning guide and communication tool. This framework helped me maintain focus on critical project elements while also facilitating strategic conversations with stakeholders to align on expectations, learning goals, and desired outcomes.
While the ADDIE model offers a solid foundation, I identified the need for a more focused and actionable approach. Through extensive research and reflection, I aimed to analyze each phase of the model into essential, targeted questions that would guide effective decision-making and project clarity.
I deconstructed the ADDIE model into its core components and carefully analyzed each phase. From that analysis, I created a structured outline and generated a set of 4–6 key questions per phase. These questions serve as prompts for myself and my stakeholders to gather meaningful insights, clarify expectations, and keep the team aligned throughout the project lifecycle.
To support adoption and collaboration, I transformed my framework into a PowerPoint slide deck designed for use before, during, or after planning meetings. I also created a short, engaging video version of the presentation to serve as a pre-meeting resource or follow-up tool—ensuring stakeholders remain informed, prepared, and aligned with the instructional strategy.
